Dubai is one of the seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates (UEA). Dubai is probably the most famous of all seven in part due the pace at which it grew and became a global business hub in the Middle East. Dubai is home to the tallest building on earth (The Burj Kalifa), the only seven star resort in the world (The Burj Al Arab), a number of artificial palm shaped islands ( Palm Jumeirah and Palm Jebel Ali) and the one and only artificial archipelago of islands (The World or World Islands). Even though Dubai is located in the desert where temperatures can reach 106 F (41 C) in the summer, that is no reason to prevent you from going skiing when you feel like it…Dubai Ski is an indoor ski resort with 22,500 square meters of indoor ski area. Shopping is must while in Dubai…home to some of the world’s best shopping malls…The Dubai, Mall of the Emirates, Burjuman Center, Jumeirah Plaza, etc…so go ahead and splurge a little…jewelry, high end fashion, decadent sweets, etc…there is something for everybody. And if all the glitz and glamour is not your cup of tea, then well…head out to the Deira, a part of town known as old Dubai to visit some of the more traditional parts of town. Deira is known for it’s spice market souk. And if that doesn’t satisfy your thirst for adventure, then I would recommend taking an overnight desert safari tour…leave the city lights behind and head out into the vast desert outside of the Dubai.
