When you think of Mexico, you probably think of Cancun, Mayan ruins, Mexico City, etc. Most people would probably not associate Mexico with wine making. I was also surprised to find out that Mexico has indeed some very good wines. The region known as Valle De Guadalupe is in fact just that…a wine producing valley. Just an hour drive south of Tijuana, Mexico it is a hidden treasure. It is a peaceful and quiet region with beautifully set vineyards and excellent wine. Also the wineries are still relatively small, so it is not unusual to meet the owners of each one and get to know them. I recommend spending at least a couple of days exploring the area. Besides wine, people in the valley also produce exquisite olives and olive oil. From one traveler to another… visit Valle De Guadalupe, drink some wine, rest and make some friends. Cheers! !!
